Ndere Cutural Center

Ndere Cultural Centre is the place to go for an ultimate African experience.

Ndere Cultural Experience

This cultural epicentre is located in Ntinda-Kisaasi, a suburb in Kampala. Ndere Cultural Centre was established in 1984 with the aim of restoring a sense of self-worth among Ugandans/Africans through liberating the performing arts; cultural music, dance and drama from being symbols of witchcraft, backwardness and evil worship. The NDERE cultural Centre has played an enormous role in discovering and giving value to the once concealed beauty of the Pearl of Africa, embedded in the fabrics of culture across a heterogeneous society.

‘Ndere’ is translated ‘flute’ from the local language. The centre has a troupe of young men and women trained in the art of performance. The Ndere troupe, commonly referred to as Uganda’s cultural ambassadors have been trained to tell the African story in an African way. Through music, dance, drama, poetry and story telling, the African legends are told to the inquiring listeners.
