Lake Bunyonyi Safari tour

Lake ‘Bunyonyi’ is translated ‘place of many little birds’ from the local language.

Lake Bunyonyi 3 day Safari Tour

Lake Bunyonyi is located in South-western Uganda close to the Rwanda boarder. Over 200 bird species are found on the Island among which is the rare African Harrier Hawk, egrets, white tailed blue monard, weavers, grey crowned cranes, the levillant cuckoo and herons.

The lake appears on the five thousand Ugandan shilling note with a title ‘Lake Bunyonyi and terraces’. Lake Bunyonyi is one of Uganda’s outstanding tourist attractions having about 29 small islands including the infamous Akampene (punishment) Island where the Bakiga tribe would abandon girls who got pregnant before marriage. The abandoned girls were left to die on the Island or drown while trying to swim to the mainland. The islands are a home to innumerable bird, mammal and plant species.

Lake Bunyonyi is the ideal getaway for birding and nature lovers. It is a haven of tranquillity from the din and irritating noise of urban life. The prime purpose of ATP-Tours is giving you a quenching and memorable experience.
