Ssese Islands tour

The Ssese Islands are the prime destination for nature and countryside lovers.

Ssese Islands 3 Day Tour

The Ssese Islands are one of the formidable attractions that make Uganda stand out as the Pearl of Africa. The archipelago of 84 Islands stands erect in the North-western part of Lake Victoria, the world’s second largest freshwater lake. The Ssese Islands lie in two main groups; the southwest group which is branded the Bugala group after Bugala Island the largest island in the archipelago, and the North-eastern group commonly referred to as the Koome group after Koome Island the largest Island in that group.

The islands are dominated by the Bantu speaking Bassese tribe closely related to the Baganda and Basoga in dialect and way of life. The source of livelihood for these people includes fishing which is the dominant activity and livestock farming which involves rearing cattle, poultry, and goats.

The Ssese Islands are the prime destination for nature and countryside lovers. The rugged beauty and rudimentary setting of the islands will give you the perfect African experience. The numerous plant and animal species create the right atmosphere for nature walks, hiking, canoeing, sport fishing, primate trekking, birding, among other activities.
